About
Dr. Somil Thakur joined the Department of Civil Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University in January, 2023. He is extremely passionate about the research and development of the technologies associated with renewable energy sources as well as other environmental aspects of engineering such as water/wastewater treatment design, resource recovery etc. He pursued his doctorate degree in Environmental Engineering from the Department of Environmental and Water Resource Engineering, School of Civil Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Tamilnadu, India. He is currently carrying out high quality research by exploring the possibility of wastewater treatment with concurrent bioelectricity generation by using specially designed bio-electrochemical systems and have already published his work in reputed journals like ASCE, AIChE etc. He is also a member of prestigious organizations like Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS), Indian Science Congress (ISC), The Institution of Engineers (IEI) etc.
