  • Dr. Rana is a highly qualified and experienced civil engineer and water resources management expert. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering in 1983 and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources in 1996, both with first-class honors. In 2001, he earned a Ph.D. in Water Resources Management from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. Additionally, he completed a six-week certificate course in "Microcomputer use in Irrigation and Drainage" at Logan, Utah State University, USA, in 1987 and a Diploma in Acupressure from ASPEUS, Prayagraj, in 2019. Dr. Rana has an extensive professional background in civil engineering and water resources management, having worked for 36 years with the Government of Gujarat in various roles such as design, computer modelling, canal automation, tenders, and execution. He has also been a visiting faculty member at several universities, including the Water Resources Engineering and Management Institute at M.S. University, Baroda, the School of Building Science and Technology at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and Adani Institute of Infrastructure Engineering, Ahmedabad. Currently, Dr. Rana is working as a Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at NIRMA University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he has been employed since August 2022. Dr. Rana's research interests are in canal automation and simulation modelling. He was a member of the core team for the canal automation pilot project of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited for ten years and has been involved in research work for the development and modification of steady-state models and unsteady-state simulation models since 1996. Additionally, he has collaborated with consultants from IIT Bombay to develop the Narmada Project Unsteady Model for the Network of Canal Conveyance System of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited. Dr. Rana is also an examiner of the Ph.D. thesis of Shivaji University, Kolhapur.
