The IEEE Students’ Chapter was formed in the year 2000. It has members from the Departments of Electrical, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science and Engineering. The Chapter organises several events throughout the year with a view to keep students abreast of the changing technology and encouraging them to work on innovative projects and present them in a technical forum.
The Student Chapter also has the WIE Affinity Group under which the volunteers carry out different events to promote engineering among girl students. It won the WIE Affinity Group of the Year Award for R10 (Asia-Pacific) Region in 2011. It also had the honour of hosting ‘Sampark’, in the year 2012, an annual event held by the ISTE Gujarat Section and the All India Student Congress in October 2014.
Since its inception in the year 2000 the Student Chapter has been organises an annual technical symposium “Technodyssey”. A smaller technical fest “Radiance” is also held every year. The events held under these are mainly technical which include paper and project presentation, coding events, circuit debugging and others. Several workshops are also held which help the students get information about new technology, software or hardware.
