Abstract: The project is proposed to address two issues in automatic driver assistance systems. Drowsiness is a huge problem for drivers while driving and a major cause of accidents. The proposed device would monitor drowsiness of the driver i.e. whether he is about to sleep or not and make buzz sound with indication which would prevent driver from falling asleep and prevent further any chances of accidents. In India, many road doesn’t have street lights which makes driving difficult in low light and night conditions. In similar situations, chances of incidents are increased with animals, cycles, vehicles with faulty tail light etc. To monitor this and prevent accidents, the system would use an infrared camera to detect objects in front and would alert the driver by popping up the object on a screen. The proposed system would be developed in low cost so that it can really be useful for Indian market. Indian automobile industry would be potential customer for the system, especially high segment cars, locomotive vehicles and commercial vehicles.
