Research Committee

The Institute Level Research Committee  (ILRC) of Institute of Technology is constituted to facilitate effective implementation of different activities of research. The committee provides guidance to the departments in taking time to time corrective measures to achieve the targeted goals and outcomes related to the department level Research Plan. The committees make recommendations to the Research Advisory Committee of the Directorate of Research and Innovation (DRI).

Looking to the diversity in areas of research in the Institute, two separate Research Committees, one for Circuit Branches and another for Non-Circuit Branches are constituted.

The Institute Level Research Committees arranges meetings at least once in six months of the calendar year. The Institute Level Committee submits its recommendations, proposals, reports, difficulties being faced during conduction of the research related activities if any, agenda of the meetings, Minutes of the Institute Level Meeting, etc. to the DRI for further action/discussion in the Research Advisory Committee of the DRI.

Functions

  • To devise mechanism to develop research culture at the concerned institute
    To prepare Annual Research Plan of the Institute in tune with the Research Policy and to send it for approval of the competent body/authority of the University
  • To prepare a plan for modernising the existing laboratories, plan of developing new laboratories, research facilities, etc. and to send it for approval of the competent body/authority of the University
  • To implement and monitor the progress of the Research Plan, Laboratory Development Plan and to submit the reports to the DRI
  • To identify the field/areas for establishment of the Centre of Excellence (CoE) and to propose the same to the Research Advisory Committee of the DRI for approval
  • To strengthen / initiate Idea Labs of the concerned Institute
  • To enhance the quality of the in-house research journal of the concerned Institute taking into consideration the general guidelines  approved by the University
  • To monitor the progress of the inter-disciplinary / multi-disciplinary research projects funded to the Institute by the University/External funding agencies
  • To suggest the relevant R & D Centres / Industries for linkages / MoUs to the DRI
  • To create awareness of/reinforce the Plagiarism Policy amongst the faculty members, PhD/PG students, etc.
  • To coordinate with the DRI in developing a bank of Thrust Areas of Research and promote research in the said areas
