INS Valsura, the premier Electrical training establishment of the Indian Navy at Jamnagar, Gujarat has been engaging with reputed academic institutions and technical organisations to continually improve the quality of training content and make available contemporary knowledge to IN officers and sailors. The requirement is especially critical in the fast transforming field of Information Technology that is omnipresent in today’s network centric environment involving equipment and systems of the Ships, Submarines and Aircraft.
Towards improving technical expertise and fostering mutually beneficial knowledge sharing, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between INS Valsura and Nirma University, Ahmedabad on 07 Sep 19 at the campus of Nirma University. Rear Admiral Ravindra Jayant Nadkarni, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command and Shri Anup Singh, Director General of Nirma University signed the MoU on behalf of INS Valsura and Nirma University respectively. The signing of MoU is a milestone event as it is for the first time that students of an external University will partner with Indian Navy on modern and cutting edge IT related applications, studies, research and projects.
Nirma University is recognized by the University Grant Commission (UGC) and accredited as an ‘A’ Grade University by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Over the years, it has established itself as a research-oriented, student centric, multidisciplinary university and is now a nationally renowned higher education institution.
The association between INS Valsura and Nirma University has grown over the years and subject matter experts from the university have contributed a lot in shaping the technical acumen of trainees of INS Valsura. This MoU will now enable B Tech, M Tech and PhD students of Nirma University to do internship at Valsura on various technical projects related to emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Embedded Systems and Sensor Networks.
