Team CON-SOL-E 2.0 comprising of undergraduate students of Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department, mentored by Prof. Harsh Kapadia and Prof. Alpesh Patel represented Institute of technology Nirma University in 3rd edition of Mitsubishi electric Cup held at Nirma University. The team was selected in the top 35 teams. They had proposed their idea named Next-Gen Sorter in the competition. The team developed NextGen Sorter using Mitsubishi FA components, which can assist manufacturers in quality assurance of the manufactured goods. The system was designed inspect mechanical gears and automotive brake pads using 2 dimensional and 3 dimension (3 D laser triangulation) machine vision and can sort/separate them if not matched with the required quality specifications. NextGen Sorter includes a servo motor based feeder, conveyor belt run by VFD and induction motor, image processing (open source using Python and OpenCV) (2 dimension inspection of mechanical gear and 3 dimension inspection of automotive brake pad, delta pick and place robot for sorting/separation, packaging system, remote monitoring and data analysis.
