Team CON-SOL-E 3.0 comprising of undergraduate students of Instrumentation and Control Engineering Department, mentored by Prof. Harsh Kapadia and Prof. Alpesh Patel represented Institute of technology Nirma University in 4th edition of Mitsubishi electric Cup held at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies. The team was selected in the top 35 teams. They had proposed their idea named Ingenious Garbage Mate in the competition. In line with 4th Mitsubishi Electric Cup’s theme “Digital Industry through Smart Imagination”, a next generation household garbage management solution using Mitsubishi Factory Automation components, cloud-based software, deep neural network (DNN) and industrial internet of things was proposed. The solution consisted of four modules namely smart dustbin, solar powered autonomous vehicle, waste segregation assembly and wet waste composter. Solid waste (PET plastic bottles, aluminium cans and tetra pack) is segregated using a deep learning (from images captured by industrial camera) based classifier and separated into various dustbins using pneumatic nozzles.
