Prof Alka Shah is working as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering Department since 2015. She has obtained Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from Lakhdhirji Engineering College, Morbi affiliated to Saurashtra University in 2007. She completed Master Degree from LD College of Engineering, Ahmedabad with specialisation in Geotechnical Engineering in 2013. Prof Shah has been awarded a Gold Medal for standing first in Master Degree from Gujarat Technological University. Prior joining to Nirma University, she has worked as a Lecturer with L E College, Morbi and an Assistant Professor with Gandhinagar Institute of Technology. Her paper titled ?Improving the soil subgrade with plastic waste reinforcement-an experimental study? received the best paper award at international conference on "trends and recent advances in civil engineering (TRACE 2018)" held at Amity University, New Delhi. Her areas of research include, "ground improvement techniques, geosynthetics, use of plastic waste for improving soil properties and foundation engineering".
