Dr. Arth Patel has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering since 2016. He earned his Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Civil Engineering from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), Gandhinagar, in 2014, followed by a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Structural Engineering from Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU), Nadiad, in 2016. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Structural Engineering from Nirma University in April 2026. His doctoral research focused on investigating the structural behaviour and performance of Concrete-Filled Double-Skinned Steel Tube (CFDST) composite columns subjected to combined axial and flexural loading.
Dr. Patel has extensive teaching experience in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Mechanics of Solids, Strength of Materials, Structural Mechanics, Design of Steel Structures, Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures, Earthquake-Resistant Design of Structures, Composite Structures, Fluid Mechanics, research methodology and Building Planning.
His research interests encompass composite structures, steel–concrete composite systems, structural behaviour under complex loading conditions, advanced construction materials, and sustainable structural engineering. He has authored numerous research papers published in reputed international journals and conference proceedings and has contributed chapters to scholarly books. In recognition of his significant research contribution, he was awarded the prestigious Arthur Cotton Memorial Prize by The Institution of Engineers (India). He has also successfully completed several minor research projects funded by Nirma University. Dr. Patel continues to actively engage in research aimed at developing innovative, resilient, and sustainable structural systems. In addition to his research endeavors, he is committed to academic excellence through effective teaching, student mentoring, and collaborative research with academic and industry partners.
