Dr B S Munjal has Superannuated as Group Director, Structures & Thermal Group, Scientist/Engineer-G, Mechanical Engineering Systems Area at Space Applications Centre, ISRO Ahmedabad and has 37 years of experience at Space Applications Centre. He has completed in 2007 his PhD (Structures) in the domain of, ?Finite Element Analysis Design and Development of smart Skin Spacecraft reflectors using smart materials and smart structural systems?. He has filed in 2006 Five Patents to his credit as one of the principal investigator in the domain of use of smart / intelligent materials in spacecraft reflector design and all national Patents have been granted and two are under process. He has a Technology Transfer to Industry for his innovative work on Smart Piezo paint product. His doctoral work related to applications of Intelligent materials and smart structural systems for Spacecraft reflectors of satellites has also been recognized by ?INDIAN ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING (INAE)?, New Delhi for award in December 2007. Dr B S Munjal?s current area of research is in the field of vibration damping of spacecraft reflectors using smart materials and shape studies of parabolic reflectors using PZTs/SMA/P.E.EK materials for developing indigenous Reconfigurable Smart / Ultra light weight antenna for futuristic GEOSAT applications. His passion is generating original graphics based pictorial books for children. Dr B S Munjal has near 100 technical papers published in peer reviewed / refereed national and international Journals of repute / International Conferences. He has guided more than 60 Master of Engineering students for their dissertations & 4 Phd students are presently under his guidance as co-guide for their thesis from SAC/ISRO and two engineers have completed their doctoral studies. He is visiting Faculty & Examiners to many Engineering Institutes and also has got invitation for many on-line / off-line lectures in colleges under the aegis of SSME.
