About
Dr. Hema Prakash is an Assistant Professor at Nirma University, Ahmedabad, with academic and research expertise in Economics. She holds an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Economics from the Centre for Studies in Economics and Planning, Central University of Gujarat. She also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow, and has qualified the UGC-NET in Economics.
Her academic and research interests broadly encompass labour force participation, unpaid care work, employment, gender and labour economics, and regional variations in labour-market outcomes. Her research work focuses on contemporary labour-market and socio-economic development.
Dr. Prakash has published research papers in Scopus- and Web of Science-indexed journals, as well as UGC-CARE-listed journals. She has also authored a book based on her doctoral research and contributed chapters to edited books. She has presented her research at several prestigious national and international academic platforms, including forums and conferences associated with the International Labour Organization (ILO), Geneva; South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) and the World Bank; the Ministry of Labour and Employment; and the Indian Society of Labour Economics (ISLE), among others.
