About
Dr. Naman Kantesaria joined Nirma University as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering Department in 2022. He obtained BE degree in Civil Engineering from LD College of Engineering, Ahmedabad, in 2012. He then got the prestigious Start-Early PhD Fellowship from IIT Gandhinagar in 2016. He obtained a PhD degree in 2021 from IIT Gandhinagar in Geotechnical Engineering specialization. His doctoral research was on static and dynamic shear-deformation characteristics of compacted high-plasticity clay in a saturated and unsaturated state. Dr. Kantesaria then continued his research as a post-doctoral fellow at IIT Gandhinagar prior to joining the University of Nottingham, UK as a Research Fellow. He worked on two European Union funded projects at the Nottingham Centre for Geomechanics, UK. Dr. Kantesaria has published three international journal papers, three geotechnical special publications, eight book chapters, thirteen international conference papers, and three national conference papers. Dr. Kantesaria is a recognized PhD supervisor. His area of research includes experimental soil mechanics, soil dynamics, liquefaction and cyclic softening characteristics, physical modelling in geomechanics, coupled hydromechanical response of unsaturated soils, ground improvement using geosynthetics and bio-mediated methods, microstructure and macroscopic behaviour of clays, and engineering applications of waste/recycled materials.
