About
Dr Sanjay Patel is a Nirma Ltd. Chair Professor of the Chemical Engineering Department. He obtained his BE degree from DDIT, Nadiad in the year 1997. Dr Patel obtained MTech degree and PhD degree from IIT Delhi in the year 2004 and 2007, respectively. Dr Patel has been appointed as Nirma Limited Chair Professor in Chemical Technology since December 2021. He was Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering from 2010-2016 & 2019-2022, Head of Department of First Year Engineering Programmes from 2017-2021 and In-charge Head of Department of Mathematics and Humanities from 2016-2018. He has published a good number of research papers in international referred journals, and international and national conferences/proceedings. Dr Patel has two Indian granted-patents. He completed two major funded research projects and currently working on two more major funded research projects. The Institute of Chemical Engineers conferred on him a prestigious Dr A V Rama Rao Best PhD Thesis and Research Award for his outstanding research work. Dr Patel was also awarded with Best Engineering College Teacher (Gujarat State) for the year 2012 by Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE). He won the best research paper award at International Conference on Fuel Cell Science, Engineering and Technology, New York organised by ASME. He is actively involved in consultancy, funded projects, research and testing in the area of chemical engineering. Dr Patel's research interests include Hydrogen Energy, Biofuels, Heterogeneous Catalysis, Green Process Developments and Gasification. He is a member of various prestigious organisations such as ISTE, IIChE, IE, IAHE, SPE and AOCS.
