Dr Vikas Lakhera is working as Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department. He has experience of more than 30 years in the field of teaching and research. He obtained BE degree in Mechanical Engineering and ME degree in Thermal Science in 1989 and 1993, respectively from the M S University of Baroda. Dr Lakhera obtained his PhD degree from IIT Roorkee in 2009. He has published/presented more than 35 research papers in the areas of heat transfer, thermo-fluid and energy systems in peer reviewed journals and international conferences. He was also the PG Coordinator for the MTech (Thermal Engineering) Programme. He has guided more than 50 MTech dissertations and 08 PhD scholars for the doctoral degree. He is also the coordinator for the Thermal Insulation Testing Facility at the Institute which is established under the NAFETIC (National Facilities in Engineering and Technology with Industrial Collaboration) Scheme of AICTE and is actively involved in the testing of thermal insulations at the national level. He represents the University as a Member in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Technical Sub-committee on Thermal Insulations. Dr Lakhera is also a reviewer of international peer refereed journals in the field of Thermal Systems. He is actively involved in consultancy, research, and testing in the area of Mechanical Engineering. His areas of research interest include Heat Transfer, Thermo-fluid systems and Energy Systems.
He is a recipient of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Charutar Vidya Mandal "Best Engineering College Teacher Award from Gujarat State 2021"
