Abstract: The infrastructure development has been growing at a fast rate in the country with an unending demand for material both raw and processes. Recent research has been shifted to evaluate the alternate binder materials. The use of geopolymer as a replacement of cement is the current area of research in the civil engineering construction material field. The raw materials used for the geopolymer production as a new alternative binder material are Metakaolin, coal fly ash and bottom ash, volcanic ash, calcined clay, silica fume, rice husk ash and slag etc. This project aims to develop alternative masonry unit instead of traditional fired clay bricks, fly ash bricks as a geopolymer bricks. The geopolymer bricks are having potential to become eco-friendly, durable, low cost building material. Geopolymer concrete is an innovative and eco-friendly construction material and an alternative to Portland cement concrete. Use of geopolymer reduces the demand of Portland cement which is responsible for high CO2 emission. Geopolymers are amorphous three-dimensional aluminosilicate materials which can be produced at ambient or elevated temperature by alkaline activation of aluminosilicates. Geopolymers display excellent mechanical strength and resistance to attack by aggressive environments also they require less energy for the manufacturing process and easy to recycle. The purpose of this particular study is to explore
the performance of Geopolymer brick consists of fly ash as one of its chief material. The bricks were casted with clay soil to fly ash in the different proportion. Sodium fume solution was applied as an alkaline-activator and a ratio 1:2 of water to NaOH solution was used as the
binder solution. With an optimum water/binder ratio. The experimental outcomes were compared with locally available conventional bricks.
