Abstract: A lot of research has been going on for generating electricity from renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro to meet the increasing power demands all across the globe as the continuous use of non – renewable sources of energy has resulted in depletion of these sources. But, these renewable resources have their own geographical and atmospherical limitations. This report discusses the alternative for both renewable as well as non- renewable sources of energy in the form of Piezoelectricity. The use of piezoelectric tiles can be considered as an effective solution for all the drawbacks of other energy sources. The majority of kinetic energy that is wasted during walking can be converted into useful energy through Piezoelectric Tiles. This paper discusses how different connections of piezoelectric discs can have a tremendous effect on the amount of voltage produced. A design of piezoelectric tile has been proposed by taking various factors into consideration. Analysis of a pathway installed with piezoelectric tile along with the total costing and payback period has been calculated. The Simulation results and the case study has been carried out. The study suggests that when these piezoelectric tiles are implemented in a crowded area, it can prove to be an
excellent alternative to generate electricity.
