As the title of the project speaks for itself, ‘Automatic Railway Gate System’, is a fully automatic railway gate system which can be installed onto a level crossing that can replace the ones which are currently operated by the gate keepers. There are manyadvantages to the system which are discussed thoroughly in the report. The system, developed as a prototype by us, has multiple features. The system consists of an intrusion detector, Railway signal and a Traffic signal all of which are controlled by an Arduino. The system will detect an incoming train using a piezo sensor installed at a suitable distance from the level crossing the traffic signal will go to high, then the input from the intrusion detector circuit will be checked. As soon as the intrusion detector senses a presence of an object in between the level crossing, the Arduino will give the signal to the incoming train via railway signal, that it must slow down as to let the object stuck in the middle of the crossing to pass and as soon as the intruder will move on, the signal will be changed and the gates, then only will be closed. When the train will be gone, then the gates will be opened.
