Abstract: The aim of the project is to use the capability of Solar Power to match with the requirement of a fixed wing RC aircraft. Generally, slow speed reconnaissance application is taken into consideration where resolution and pixel quality matters. The required amount of power is upto a small amount of tens of watts. By using high efficiency Solar Cells and considering the low power requirements of the aircraft, the present operational availability of the given vehicle can be multiplied to several hours which in the present market is just about a few minutes. Moreover, the dependence on non-biodegradable Lithium Polymer batteries can be reduced, which could be of huge sizes if longer duration of flight is required.
