Abstract: One of the major problems faced by today’s world is Pollution. One of the contributing hands to the pollution is Solid waste. Solid waste includes Medical waste, Plastic waste, E-waste, Agriculture waste and many more. Around 998 million tons of agriculture waste is produced in 1 year. This agriculture waste includes waste from farm, poultry houses, harvest waste and many more. Farm and harvest waste include Rice husk, Rice straw and Wheat husk which are produced in tons per year. Solid waste also includes plastic wastes which are the bigger contributor in water pollution and re also harmful to environment so the project idea is to reuse of Agriculture waste to solve problems arise due to plastic waste by producing bio-degradable plastic from Farm and Harvest waste.
There are mainly two kind of bio-degradable plastic, Oxo-biodegradable plastic and hydro- biodegradable plastics. Oxo-biodegradable plastic can be made by adding small amount of pro- degradant additives to conventional plastic during process and it will change the degradation property of conventional plastic whenever hydro-biodegradable plastics are made from plant source like starch and cellulose.
Now a days, Starch based bio-plastic are widely used in market but our aim is to reduce agriculture waste like rice husk, rice straw and wheat husk which contain some amount of cellulose so the project idea is more focused on cellulose based bio-plastic by using these solid waste as a raw material. Hence this cellulose based bio-plastic will help to reduce solid waste and also help to reduce the pollution causes by conventional plastic.
Our main criterion in this project is the formation of cellulose diacetate from cellulose by using various raw materials like Wheat husk, Rice husk and Wheat straw. The Cellulose diacetate which will be served as material from which desired plastic sheets can be made out.
