Dr. Marcello Lappa, Director of the MSc course, , Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK delivered an expert talk on “On the relevance of CFD to Material Science” on February 25, 2019 at department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Nirma University Dr. Marcello Lappa is the Director of the MSc course in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, UK. He joined the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Strathclyde as an Associate Professor in 2015. He has more than 100 publications and 3 books in the fields of fluid motion and stability behaviour, organic and inorganic materials and crystal growth, multiphase flows, particle dynamics, solidification, biotechnology and biomechanics, CFD methods and high performance computing. He extended the treatment of thermal convection to the case of rotating fluids in a subsequent book (“Rotating Thermal Flows in Natural and Industrial Processes”, John Wiley & Sons, 2012). On September 2013 He has attained a qualification (habilitation) to the rank of Full Professor.
