Nirma University and L&T has signed an MoU for starting a BTech Programme for the employees of L&T Construction Ltd.

Nirma University and L&T has signed an MoU for starting a BTech Programme for the employees of L&T Construction Ltd. Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering are jointly offering this BTech (Construction Technology) Programme. The targeted participants for the same are diploma holders of L&T. The first batch will be starting from the next academic term beginning from January 2022. This BTech Programme will be conducted in blended mode – Online and Offline both.
The programme is divided in to seven semesters where the first four semesters will be common for all the candidates from L&T. Semester five and six will be conducted separately by respective departments. Semester seven will be common for all the branches.
This course will mainly focus on the major areas of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The courses being offered in the Civil Engineering domain are Mechanics of Solids, Advanced Surveying, Construction Techniques, Construction Planning and Control, Quality Assurance and Control in Construction, Finance and Cost Accounting in Construction, Computer Applications in Construction Engineering, Construction Equipment, Plant and Machinery, Quantity Surveying, Estimation and Contracts, Sustainable and Smart Construction Technologies, Pre-fabrication Construction Techniques, Material Handling in Construction, Project Risk Management, Industrial Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Environmental Engineering, water Resources Engineering, etc.
The courses being offered in the Mechanical Engineering domain are Industrial Engineering, Welding Technology for Construction, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems and their Applications, Non-Destructive Evaluation Techniques, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Metal Casting Technology, Manufacturing Processes, Maintenance Engineering, etc. The courses being offered in the Electrical Engineering domain are Industrial Engineering, Power Transmission & Distribution System Design for Construction, Smart Grid Technologies, Solar Plant Design and Construction, Advanced Electrical Machines, Energy Storage Systems and Electric Vehicles, Switchgear, Protective Relays and Testing of Power Equipment, SCADA for Substation, etc.
The candidates from L&T will be benefitted as this programme will fill the knowledge gap as they required in industry operations. It is a great opportunity for Nirma University as well to strengthen the industry-academia relations in the core branches of engineering. The launching ceremony for the course was held by L&T through online mode on 30 October 2021.
