Institute of Technology, Nirma University organized Nirma Robocup 2019 – a national level robotic contest for school students on October 19 – 20, 2019 at Nirma University campus. The theme of the contest was GOVINDA, wherein participating team were asked to prepare a robot that can travel through different zones namely Mathura, Gokul, Vrindavan and Barsana by overcoming various hurdles in the path and finally need to reach at the Barsana hill to touch the hanging butter pot.
Total of 17 teams of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Delhi were participated in the event. The event was inaugurated by Shri G T Pandya, Director, Directorate of Technical Education Gujarat State.
Very enthusiastic participants from various schools have demonstrated their skills on the field. All have adopted different strategies and innovative design of the robot to complete the task in a given time frame. Majority of the teams were able to finish the task and able to accomplish GOVINDA in less than a minute of time.
The event was scheduled for two days. On the first day, all the teams were provided practice on the main game field. All the teams were divided in total of 6 groups, each group contains three teams. The groups were formed by draws. On the second day after the formal inauguration ceremony, total 17 league matches were played as per the groups. Based on the score of league matches, total 8 top scorer teams were selected for quarter final. Based on the quarter finals scores, two teams of Bannari Aman Public School (Tamilnadu), one team from The Cathedral and John Cannon School (Mumbai) and a team from Nirma Vidyavihar (Ahmedabad) were qualified as semi-finalist. In the semi-final matches both the teams of Bannari Aman Public School were qualified to finals and won National Winner and 1st Runner up award worth Rs 50000/- and Rs 30000/- respectively. Team of Nirma Vidyavihar won the title of 2nd Runner up worth Rs 10000/-. Apart from these, there were six different categories of awards as follows.
