The main objective of the project is to design and develop a digital setup which can locate and monitor the cracks occurred during experimental evaluation of different concrete specimens using concept of Image Processing. The generalized procedure is to look at the test specimen with the help of a high resolution camera. The initial cracks which develop on the specimen are usually very minute in nature (micro cracks), which a normal human eye could not able to identify. Hence, a high resolution camera is placed on front face of test specimen. This high resolution camera is to continuously monitor the behaviour of specimen subjected to static loads. A code has been written using LabVIEW to convert the input given by the camera in to the measurements of the cracks with respect to load. The applicability of the proposed digital measurement device will be tested for two different sizes of concrete cubes. Response is observed in terms of pattern of crack development with respect to increase in load value.
