Industry sponsored Research Project Proposal (Stabicoat Vitamins sponsored Project)

Industry sponsored Research Project Proposal (Stabicoat Vitamins sponsored Project) for “to synthesis cross linked starch and study its application of in taste masking /coating for drug delivery application”.

Objective

Aim of the present project is to develop / modify starch by crosslinking and explore its application in taste masking / coating for drug delivery systems. The optimize formulation will be also subjected to in vitro study.

It’s an interdisciplinary project area where contribution of chemical engineering as well as pharmacy is required. It would be possible to test its applicability by conducting experiments in laboratories of industry as well as Institute of pharmacy. Stabicoat vitamin is a pharmaceutical industry, shown interest to sponsor this research project.

Stabicoat Vitamins, an ISO 9001:2008 organization, founded by a group of qualified entrepreneurs in 1980 and started operation in 1983 at Ahmedabad, India; is presently led by qualified technocrats. The company pioneered manufacturing of stabilized and coated vitamins. With extensive experience of more than 2 decades, the company has become the market leader for its stabilized vitamin products and has earned the repute of quality manufacturer in India. The company is committed to strengthening and widening its knowledge in stabilized and coated vitamins, minerals and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.

With the advent of the concept of Novel Drug Delivery System, Stabicoat Vitamins, expanded and mastered the pelletization for delayed release, sustained release of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.

Scope of the research work

The specific research objectives are as follows:

  1. Study various methods to crosslink starch used for coating in various dosage forms/ drug delivery systems.
  2. Identify limitations of existing crosslink starch and methods.
  3. To modify or develop method to crosslink starch which can overcome the limitations of existing crosslink starch and methods.
  4. Characterization & testing of synthesized crosslink starch as coating/ taste masking for drug delivery systems.
