Studies on Effect of Various Parameters on Transesterification of Jatropha oil into Biodiesel under Ultrasound Irradiation.

The proposed Study aimed at developing process for biodiesel production using ultrasound assisted transesterification techniques which are safe, less time consuming and comparable with present techniques like Microwave irradiation, homogeneous alkali catalyzed transesterification, homogeneous acid catalyzed transesterification and solid acid catalyzed transesterification from Jatropha oil for biodiesel production.

The main objectives of the Study are listed below:

• To study the effects of various process parameters on the production of biodiesel using ultrasound assisted transesterification methods.
• To develop a safe, economical and competent process to produce biodiesel.
• To study the effect of alkali, acid and solid catalysts on biodiesel production.
• To study the influence of Ultrasound irradiation on biodiesel production without reflux and kinetic study for the development of rate equation.

Based on the project an Indian Patent is filled and is published as well.
