1. Chapter Overview
The IEEE Computer Society Student Chapter at Nirma University is a student community that operates under the IEEE Computer Society. The chapter brings students together to learn and collaborate in areas like artificial intelligence, computer vision, cybersecurity, health AI and quantum computing.
2. What We Do
IEEE Computer Society at Nirma is a student community built around learning, building, and sharing ideas. We bring students together through workshops, talks, hackathons, and hands-on projects.
Beyond these activities, we also encourage students to explore their interests, take on new challenges, and find opportunities to grow.
3. About the Chapter
The chapter was established in 2025, and as part of the IEEE Computer Society we’re connected to a much bigger community of people working in computing.
Events we’ve hosted include HackDays Ahmedabad, held at Nirma University on 26 September 2026. We’ve also had industry guests visit, including Naren Kachroo, Head of Google Cloud India.
4. Goals
• Technical innovation and research: Help students get involved in computing research, deep learning model replication and open-source software engineering.
• Peer learning in emerging fields: Build an active peer-learning community around artificial intelligence, computer vision, cybersecurity, health AI and quantum computing.
• A learning community beyond the classroom: Give students a dedicated space to learn and work together as a team, outside regular coursework.
5. About the IEEE Computer Society
The IEEE Computer Society is a global organization for computing professionals. It supports the field through conferences, publications and professional initiatives, and celebrates its 80th anniversary in 2026.
• SC24: Brought together more than 18,000 high-performance computing experts.
• CVPR 2026: Attracted 12,200 attendees from 84 countries and regions, and set new records for attendance and paper submissions. Showcased work in computer vision, artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous systems and embodied AI/robotics.
• Quantum Week 2026: A flagship global platform for quantum engineering and computing, bringing together more than 2,300 attendees from the international quantum community.
