IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) – Nirma University Student Chapter
The IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society (ITSS) is a global technical society of IEEE dedicated to advancing the theoretical, experimental, and operational aspects of electrical engineering and information technologies applied to intelligent transportation systems. ITSS brings together students, researchers, engineers, industry professionals, and innovators to exchange knowledge and develop technologies that can make transportation safer, smarter, more connected, efficient, and sustainable.
Building upon the strong IEEE student ecosystem at Nirma University, the IEEE ITSS Student Chapter at Nirma University, established in late 2025, serves as a student-driven platform for exploring the rapidly evolving landscape of intelligent mobility and transportation technology. Our chapter aims to bridge classroom learning with real-world applications by introducing students to emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, autonomous and connected vehicles, smart infrastructure, intelligent traffic systems, mobility analytics, computer vision, and next-generation transportation technologies.
We strive to create a vibrant interdisciplinary community where students from diverse engineering and technological backgrounds can learn, build, collaborate, compete, and innovate. Through expert talks, technical sessions, hands-on workshops, challenges, research discussions, networking opportunities, and student-led initiatives, we provide meaningful exposure to both academic developments and industry applications in intelligent transportation. These activities are designed not merely to impart knowledge, but to inspire students to transform ideas into impactful solutions.
Looking ahead, our vision extends beyond the boundaries of the university. We aspire to establish strong national and international collaborations, connect Nirma students with the global IEEE ITSS community, foster interdisciplinary research and innovation, and position Nirma University as a vibrant hub for intelligent transportation and smart mobility. Through this journey, we aim to empower students to become not only skilled engineers, but also future innovators and leaders shaping the mobility systems of tomorrow.
