Activities

The Institute of Technology through various departments is involved in various activities for a better Alumni Connection. Some of these activities include:

  • NITAA annual get together on the first Saturday of every year.
  • Alumni Meet is various cities of India
  • NITAA Scholarship from the NITAA fund to existing students of BTech and MCA based on merit cum means
  • NITAA Alumni Awards one per department are announced on the Foundation day of the Institute (ie 3rd October)
  • Alumni Expert Talks conducted department wise or at Institute Level
  • Career guidance Seminar and various other interaction sessions for the existing students

The Alumni data management is maintained by online portal named ALMA CONNECT in which, more than 9000 Alumni members have registered so far.

Objectives

  • To establish and maintain contact between the past students, present students and the Institute of Technology.
  • To pursue and sustain excellence in Education by interaction between the alumni, faculty and present students of the Institute.
  • To strengthen Industry-Institute-Interaction and operate related activities for the benefit of students of the Institute.
  • To extend all assistance and co-operation to the institute in its endeavors for the growth and development of education and research in the field of technology.
  • To encourage and assist the students of the Institute of Technology in various academics and cultural activities.
  • To establish endowments by donation to extend financial and other assistance to deserving students of the Institute for educational and research purposes as per the terms and conditions or as mutually decided with the Board of Management.
  • To give away scholarships and awards for deserving past and present students of the Institute of Technology for educational and research purposes as per the terms and conditions to be laid down by the Board of Management.
  • To establish endowments by donation to create Chair/s of Professor/s Emeritus in Nirma Institute of Technology in professional and related areas.
  • To generate funds through donation for conducting activities for achieving the objectives of the association.
  • To project constructive activities of Institute of Technology in india and abroad.
  • To provide a common platform for exchange of ideas and disseminating knowledge in professional areas.
  • To perform any other constructive activities leading towards the enhancement of the skill and knowledge of the members of the association.

NITAA frequently takes feedback of alumni members on the curriculum development to cope up with state-of-the-art technology. We have Alumni representatives in Board of Studies Committee of various departments, in Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the Institute and several other forums for academic design and development.

Alumni relations is an important part of the Academic Journey of a University and we are trying with our continuous efforts to keep up with our bondings.
NITAA has taken one more initiative since 2014 and that is to felicitate one Alumni per department for their remarkable progress and contributions to the society in their very own special way on every foundation day of Nirma University. This is a gesture of appreciation from our side and we wish to convey that we are truly proud of them!

NITAA started giving away scholarship to the needy students from the NITAA fund since year 2008-09. The selection of the eligible students is done on merit cum means. On the Foundation Day of the Institute of Technology the announcements of the scholarships of Rs 30,000 / student is done. The scholarship is continued in the subsequent year if student fulfill the required criteria laid down by the NITAA.

NITAA Alumni Meet @ USA & Singapore

NITAA Alumni meet was conducted on May 07,2017 @ San Jose and at New Jersy on June 09, 2017.
It was organised in “Celebrations Indian Cuisine”, Sunnyvale, CA-USA. IT was attended by more than 50 Alumni from Bay Area. Dr N P Gajjar Sr vice President, NITAA addressed the meet.
Dr Parkash Gajjar  delivered talk on “Life Changing Processes”.Other Alumni Meet was held at Singapore.

At Other Places

NITAA alumni was held at Noida on 10th February 2016. The Meet was attended by Dr N M Debashraye , Dr D K Kothari , Dr N P Gajjar, Dr Priyanka Sharma and Dr Sharada Valiveti. The Meet was attended by more than 70 student members including Alumni residing around Noida and the interns working at companies in that region. Dr N P Gajjar and Dr Priyanka Sharma briefed the objectives behind conducting such Meets and desire to reconnect with our Alumni to strengthen the bond with their Alma-matter. Students expressed their extreme happiness on interacting with their faculty members.

An Alumni meet was held in Bangalore on Aug 28,2016 ( 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm) @ Hotel Bhagini Palace, Opp, Innovative Multiplex, Marathhalli,Bangalore. More than 60 Alumni members attended the meet. Dr N P Gajjar, SR Vice President NITAA, Dr Mehul Naik, Dr Zunnun Narmawala and Dr Ankit Thakker  attended the meet as NITAA representative of Institute. It has created great networking among alumni and they were informed about the progress and development of Nirma  University as a whole. The meet was followed by delicious dinner and fun filled party.

At Nirma University

Annual get together and a reunion of NITAA was organised on 3rd January 2015 at Nirma University campus. More than 250 alumni with their family members and 150 faculty members were present for Annual get together. The reunion was presided by Dr Anup Singh, Director General of Nirma University, President of NITAA Dr K Kotecha and Vice president Dr N P Gajjar. The Annual get together began with a prayer to invoke the blessings of goddess saraswati. Dr Parin Shah (Secretary, NITAA) welcomed alumni and faculty members for the program. A movie of Nirma University was played on for NITAA members which was highlighting the progress of Nirma University in the last 20 years. Movie showcased the various achievements of the University in various fields of academic and co-curricular activities. The alumni were overwhelmed by the presentation and they recollected the golden days of their college life. This was followed by an introduction session, where alumni members introduced themselves and the field of their work and affiliation. Followed by a welcome address by Dr K Kotecha (President of NITAA). President NITAA had welcomed all members and brief on how the alumni can support in the progress of institute and how the institute is concerned in keeping up the bond with the alumni. He had emphasised the use of social sites for keeping contact and sharing up-dates of institute. Dr Anup Singh, Director General of Nirma University had also addressed the gathering. He has shared his experience, how to increase interaction with alumni members and strengthen NITAA activates in the institute. The alumni were eager to help the placement in the institute by various means such as giving recommendations and introducing the HR to the institute placement department. The session ended with vote of thanks to all NITAA members, office bearers and alumni members by Dr Parin Shah (Secretary, NITAA). After this, dinner was arranged for NITAA members.

NITAA is rigorously doing its effort to improve the quality of all students and in order to achieve that expert lectures are arranged frequently. Various experts are invited from research institute, government organisations, industries and well known universities for sharing their expertise and experiences. This will help students a lot to gain something beyond their class room teaching. Few glimpses of expert lectures are given.

Department Activities
CE
  • An Expert Talk by Mr Jayvirsinh Zala was conducted on 23rd September 2019 for the students of 5th Semester of B Tech CE. Mr. Jayvirsinh Zala is a 2014 batch pass-out of BTech CE, Nirma University. He pursued MBA from IIM Indore. He is currently at Police Training Academy, Karai, Gandhingar.
IT
  • An expert lecture was conducted for the students of B Tech Final Year (CE/IT) and MCA Third year on “Machine Learning as career” by Alumnus Mr. Dhaval Mehta on 1st April 2019. Mr. Dhaval Mehta is 2009 pass out IT alumnus.
  • An Expert Talk by Mr Smit Ghelani was conducted on 19th September 2019 for the students of BTech 7th Semester IT. Mr Smit Ghelani is 2012 pass out alumnus of IT department. He is business owner of Shree Dhan Laxmi Chemicals and Shree Bhavani Iodates, Ahmedabad. His talk was on the topic “How to Start a Start up in INDIA? – a way ahead”.
MCA
  • An expert lecture was conducted for the students of MCA (Semester-IV), BTech Final Year (CE/IT) on “An Introduction to Hibernate and Spring MVC Framework” by Alumnus Mr. Mahesh Lalwani on 15th April 2019. Mr. Mahesh is working on the post of Senior Engineer in the company Maxim Integrated India Private Limited.
  • An alumni talk on “Future of Social Sector and Impact of IT in social sector” was conducted by Mr. Dhruv Sharma who is working in XSEED Education, Pune. He is 2015 pass out student and also received best alumni award on 3rd October, 2019. He gave insights on employment opportunities in social and educational fields.
  • An alumni talk was conducted on 21st October,2019 by Mr. Anand Padiya for MCA Semester-V students on GIT Version Control System. He gave insights of GIT used as version control system to the students of MCA-V.
Civil
  • Ms. Megha Vyas alumni of Civil Engineering department and member of core working committee of FSAI, initiated Women Safety and Self Defence Program for female faculty staff members and girl students. The workshop was arranged for all the girl students as well as female faculty members and female staff of the department. The Training Workshop was conducted by our Alumni Ms. Veena Gupta, Chairman, FSAI Women Safety and Security.
  • An expert lecture of Mr Harish Chandra Jakhmola, an alumni of Nirma University was arranged on 22nd March 219. He has done his masters in CASAD from Nirma Institute of Technology. He has also done his MBA from Nirma University. He has a great experience in the field of construction of power plants and its maintenance.
  • Alumni Mr. Apoorva Vyas, Director, Yooshin Engineering Corporation (South Korea based construction company), Gurgaon, along with Mr. Kwansoo Lee Senior Managing Director, Yooshin Engineering Corporation, Seoul, visited Civil engineering department and interacted with senior faculty members on 3rd April 2019.
  • Mr Anushrav Bhatt, Arbitrator of Nirntar Group and Alumni of Nirma University has delivered expert lecture on Arbitration Act and other regulations 12/09/2019 for semester VII students. He has discussed about various aspects of arbitration, reasons of arbitration, involvement of judiciary in arbitration.
  • Ms. Megha Bhatt, Principal Associates – Electra Techno Consultant & Associates-MEPF Consultant to conduct a teaching of four sessions. Ms. Megha Bhatt has 15+ years of experience in the various infrastructure engineering services. She has expertise in the field of Design of Plumbing System (Water supply, drainage and storm water disposal) & Construction management for Plumbing system as a part of fraction course.
Mechanical
  • Expert lecture on the topic – “My journey as a Mechanical Engineer” of Mr. Amar Patel for BTech 2nd semester students at A-101 on 16th February 2019 was conducted.
  • Mr. Bhavin Dabhi, Founder, Universal Design & Innovation lab, Rajkot have delivered an expert talk with M.Tech (CAD/CAM) Sem.-I and BTech Sem-VII students on 25/09/19. This lecture was really useful to the students in understanding Product Design for Brand Design and Product Design for business And Idea to product with disruptive design innovation.
  • Harsh Dapkawala – BTech 2019 pass out batch alumni member has conducted interaction come guidance seminar on “How to prepare for placements and fulfil its requirements” with BTech seventh semester students on 09-09-19
Chemical
  • Dr. Japan Trivedi an esteemed alumnus belonging to the batch of ’98 Chemical Engineering graced the department with his presence on 11th January 2019. He shared his experience of his journey beginning as a student to a faculty at University of Alberta in Canada. He provided valuable insight into the petroleum and oil industry trends and existing opportunities for budding chemical engineers.
  • Mr. Pratik Singh, an esteemed alumnus belonging to the batch of 2012, Chemical Engineering graced the department with his presence on 23rd January 2019. He shared his experience in Torrent Pharmaceuticals and guided the students regarding the upcoming placements.
  • Mr. Vishal Bhavsar an esteemed alumnus belonging to the batch of ’98 Chemical Engineering graced the department with his presence on 7th February 2019. He shared his experience of his journey. He provided valuable information about the climate change, low carbon transformation, energy cost reduction.
  • Mr. Hrishikesh Pandya an esteemed alumnus belonging to the batch of 2009 Chemical Engineering graced the department with his presence on 26th July 2019. He shared his experience of his journey. He provided valuable information about the refineries, its overview and the delayed Coker basics.
  • Mr. Karan Shah Alumnus of 2010 batch recently visited the campus and the department and had an interaction with the 3rd Semester students on 26th July 2019. Karan Shah completed his MBA from a renowned university of US. In his brief interaction with the students, he made students aware of the thinking pattern of people and students in abroad, tried to cultivate business ideas in the young minds.
  • Mr. YVNS Suvikram is from 2008-2012 batch of Department of Chemical Engineering, He is the Technical manager at Ammonia-IV plant, GSFC Baroda. An expert lecture on “Trips and interlocks” was held on 31st July 2019 for fifth and seventh semester students. The lecture was organised to provide the students with an opportunity to understand about the safety measure taken in the industries and where trips and interlocks come in use.
  • Parth Solanki, an excellent alumnus and esteemed engineer at Reliance Industries took out a valuable amount of time from his engaging schedule to address budding engineers about the working of furnaces and control systems required for ensuring safety of the plant on 14th August 2019. He delivered an excellent presentation on working mechanism of furnaces by starting with the very basics of heat transfer operations.
IC
    • Mr. Ujjaval Modi, an alumni of BTech IC has delivered an expert lecture on “Role of IC engineers in EPC and Design industries” on March 2, 2019. He is currently working as a senior engineer at Linde, India. This lecture was arranged for the BTech second semester IC students to motivate them regarding the role of IC engineers in particular to EPC companies.
  • Under the Auspicious year of Silver Jubilee celebration, IC department had organised an expert talk of Mr. Niraj Shah. He was a first batch student of IC department. Currently he is an owner of Automation and Robotics Engineer, Arihant Satiate. He inspired the students of 3rd semester IC regarding Future Technologies. The lecture was arranged on 17th October, 2019. He discussed about future technologies for home automation and robotics. He also presented a case study of smart dustbin project for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
  • An expert talk of Mr. Divyesh Patel was arranged on 6th November, 2019 for the 5th semester BTech IC students. He was M.Tech 2017 batch pass out student. Currently, he is working as R&D Engineer, Dover India Innovation Centre at Bangalore. He explained about the R & D prospects about LABVIEW.
EC
  • A research talk on Deep learning and its application in robotics by alumni Mr. Samarth Bhrambhatt was arranged on 3rd May 2019 in PG209 for the faculty members of EC/IC/CSE departments. Samarth Bhrambhatt is a PhD student in the Robotics program at Georgia Tech, working with Dr. James Hays and Dr. Charlie Kemp. He is interested in research that creates novel datasets and applies ML algorithms to solve real-world problems, particularly in robotics.
  • A mock interview session and interaction with the corporate interviewer was arranged on September 21, 2019, from 11:15 AM in D – 311. Mr. Siddharth Mistry, Founder, Teq Dilignet, Ahmedabad and Alumni of EC, IT, NU conducted the session. More than 30 students of final year BTech. EC participated in the event.
  • An expert talk of Mr. Vishal Mehta was arranged on 13th September 2019 for the 7th-semester BTech EC students in elective course of Image Processing. He was BTech 2003 batch pass out student. He explained about the Image Processing concepts used in Industry.
  • Jatan Pathak is alumni of EC, IT, NU and he is pursuing M.Tech in Cyber Security from Gujarat Forensic Science University (GFSU), Gandhinagar. Currently, Jatan is doing internship in Colgate Palmolive at Mumbai as part of M. Tech. He has addressed students of 7th semester in MW lab D208 on 14th August 2019 and discussed the role of EC engineer as a Cyber Security Expert. He has also explained his role in the Colgate Palmolive Company.
  • Rohan Garg (2009 batch Pass Out) visited the EC department on 18/09/2019. He is a founder of ICE GATE academy and recently has started a venture called ‘Gateflix’. Rohan interacted with students of semester 5. He provided a useful insight into the future career options available to the EC engineers.
  • Our students had a chance to interact with one of the alumni of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department on 29th November 2019. Mr. Bhargav Baldaniya , who has become an entrepreneur and created a sustainable business in a short period of time with his shear dedication. He has his own start-up on google cloud services based client Solution Company named Shree- Infosystem in Surat with 107 employees. Interacting with the students he advised his juniors to emphasize on Practical Knowledge, Learning during Experiments & vivas, making projects and Hands-on Trainings as these lead to a much deeper understanding of concepts and bring in self-confidence.

  • An expert lecture was arranged for the students of Electrical Engineering Department, BTech, semester 4 – Div. A on “Skills required by industries from Students” by Alumnus Mr. Himanshu Chauhan (BTech 2008 pass out) on 06/02/2019.
  • An expert lecture was arranged for the students of Electrical Engineering Department, BTech, Semester 6 – Div. B on “Strategy to be adopted for further studies in US” by Alumnus Mr. Kunal Buch (BTech 2014 pass out) on 15/02/2019.
  • An expert lecture was arranged for the students of Electrical Engineering Department, M. Tech, EPS, Semester-2 on “Wide Area Measurement System” by Alumnus Mr. Devendra Parmar (M. Tech, EPS 2012 pass out) on 25/02/2019.
  • An expert lecture was arranged for the students of Electrical Engineering Department, M. Tech, EPS and PEMD, Semester 2 on “Electric vehicle application using DSP for motor control” by Alumnus Mr. Vatsal Shah (M. Tech, 2009 pass out) on 27/02/2019.
  • Mr. Abhay Gandhi, Ms. Kriti Agrawal, Mr. Prem Shah, Mr. Dakshesh Chaudhary, Mr. Deepak Agrawal and Mr. Tejaswi Nema, IT-NU, Alumnus (BTech, Batch 2017), interacted with students of BTech. (EE-Sem. V & VII) on July 16, 2019. The topic of interaction was on “Necessary Preparation Tips for Competitive Exams & Further Studies”.
  • Ms. Misree Vachhani, Assistant Manager- Offer Marketing, Schneider Electric India Private Ltd, IT-NU, Alumnus (BTech., Batch 2015), interacted with students of BTech. (EE-Sem. VII) on August 09, 2019. The topic of interaction was on “Industry trends and expectations, various career and study options”.
  • Mr. Vaibhav Pagedar, Consultant, Renoir Management Consulting, IT-NU, Alumnus (BTech, Batch 2011), interacted with students of BTech (EE-Sem. VII) on September 06, 2019. The topic of interaction was on “Soft Skills for Placement Interview and Professional Career”.
  • Dr. Darshit Shah, PhD scholar from Missouri University of Science and Technology, IT-NU, Alumnus (BTech, Batch 2007), interacted with participants of STTP named as “Application of Software Resources in Electrical Engineering” conducted by Electrical Engineering Department, Nirma University under the auspices of the Centre for Quality Assurance and Academic Development (CQAAD), NU between June 24 to July 06, 2019. The topic of interaction was related to usage of PSCAD for various applications in Electrical Engineering.
